The Casey MacGill Trio will perform Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Richard R. Brown Fine Arts Center in Canby at 7:30 p.m. as the opener to the Canby Community Concert Associations 2013-14 schedule.
Single tickets for this performance are $25. Season tickets for the four-concert series are $70.
Casey MacGill is a modern-day swing and boogie master. Alternatively playing stride piano, cornet and a six-string ukulele, MacGills trio is rounded out by the soulful three-part harmony supplied by his bassist and drummer.
Previous projects include, the Los Angeles-based trio Mood Indigo (movie appearances in Swing Shift and Frances) and the Tony-nominated Broadway musical Swing (cast member, songwriter) in which he was reviewed as having the kind of shrugged-off charm one associates with being cool in the swing era (New York Times). His audio recordings continue to generate worldwide acclaim and propel his touring opportunities.
The current tour features a program entitled Classic American Music, which MacGill describes as Nat King Cole Trio meets the Mills Brothers; Fats Waller meets Fats Domino; Slim Galliard meets Fred Astaire.
