Canby firefighters squelched a brush fire Monday, Sept. 2, that had grown to a half acre in the 1100-block of Union Hall Road.
The fire was reported about 1:26 p.m. and Canby Fire District firefighters arrived to find the fire moving rapidly toward a stand of trees and extinguished it before it could damage the trees.
Units from Clackamas and Molalla assisted the Canby firefighters.
The Canby Fire District warns that even with the cooler damp weather, the fire fuels are still dry and a small fire can spread rapidly. Backyard burning will not be permitted until October and only then if fire danger is reduced.
