Canby optometrist honored
The Oregon Optometric Physicians Association (OOPA) presented its top awards at the OOPA Annual Meeting recently held at Salishan Spa & Golf Resort in Gleneden Beach.
The awards were presented by the association for outstanding service to the profession of optometry and community and included a Canby optometrist.
Dr. Ashley McFerron was awarded the 2013 Young Optometric Physician of the Year Award in recognition of her service to the profession of optometry and her work in her community of Canby.
McFerron received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Okla. in 2003. Her doctorate of optometry was received in 2008 at the Oklahoma College of Optometry at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla.
In July 2008, McFerron moved from Oklahoma to Oregon, and in October 2011 bought Canby Eyecare. She is a member of the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association and the American Optometric Association and currently serves on the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association board of directors as the membership director. In her spare time, McFerron enjoys exercising and cooking with her husband, Derek, who is also an optometric physician practicing at Oregon Health Science University (OHSU).
