Assault claim is false

Salem woman who reported assault at Baldock Rest Area made the story up, say Oregon State Police detectives

An alleged assault victim at Baldock Rest Area apparently made it up.

An investigation by Oregon State Police Criminal Investigations Division detectives into an alleged Aug. 16 assault turned up evidence that 33-year-old Heather Trevino, of Salem, had given a false report of what happened.

On Aug. 27, Trevino was cited by OSP detectives on a charge of initiating a false police report, a class C misdemeanor.

She is scheduled to appear in Clackamas County Circuit Court on Sept. 25 at 3 p.m.

The investigation started Aug. 16 at approximately 5 p.m. when a report was received regarding an unknown male suspect assaulting an adult female with her child in a wooded back section at the southbound Interstate 5 Baldock Rest Area west of Canby. Officers from OSP, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and Wilsonville and Canby police departments responded to the rest area and conducted an extensive ground search with air support for a possible suspect.

Trevino was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the alleged attack. Her injuries, which are now believed to be self-inflicted, included throat ligature marks, bruising, and scrapes on her body.
