Canby Police investigate vandalism to bike racks
Vandals also did damage to a business sign
Canby Police are investigating vandalism to several of the downtown steel artwork bike racks.
Officers discovered the vandalism about 4:20 a.m. Monday, July 29.
Bike racks were found bent to the ground at the corners of North Grant Street and Second Avenue, Northwest Third Avenue and Grant.
Five multicolor steel flower bike racks met the same fate on the north side of the restrooms in Wait Park.
Another steel flower bike rack was found bent to the ground at Northwest Fourth Avenue and Fir Street.
The vandals also damaged a 3-by-5-foot Corbett Denture Service sign at 300 NW Third Ave.
Officers said several city road barriers were knocked over. So was a garbage can and trash was strewn about.
The damaged bike racks were among 60 decorative bike racks installed in the community in December as a gift from the Canby Community Leadership program.
