Juanita Marvin-Bushey-Kivett

Juanita Marvin-Bushey-Kivett, 69, died July 22, 2013, in Woodburn.

She was born Dec. 15, 1943, in Los Angeles to Robert Hacker and Mary Lola Adams McClure. She grew up in California and KivettOregon and graduated from Canby High School.

She worked for the Oregon Department of Children’s Services and retired in 1989. She lived in Canby, Salem and Molalla.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was a member of Oregon City Episcopal Church and Canby Assembly of God and Salem VFW.

Survivors include her sons; Jim Marvin, of Portland, John Marvin, of Newberg, Jeff Marvin, of Aurora, Trevor Bushey, of Medford, and Terry Bushey, of Salem; brothers, Robert Hacker, of Atlanta, Ga., and James Hacker, of Tehachapi, Calif.; sister, Mary Hacker Weathers, of Salem, Jan Hacker Smith, of The Dalles; and 10 grandchildren.

Her husbands, James Marvin, Robert Bushey and Richard Kivett, and sister Sherri Hacker Ruben preceded her in death.

A service will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. at Canby Hispanic Foursquare Church.

George Carl Schultz Jr.

George Carl Schultz Jr., 94, died July 30, 2013, in Canby.

He was born Feb. 8, 1919, in Oregon City to George and Minnie Schultz. He grew up in Oregon City and graduated from Oregon City High School. He earned an engineering degree at the University of Colorado.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 during World War II.

He married Eileen Davis in Colorado.

He worked in Washington and North Dakota and settled in Canby in 1973. He was a lifetime member of Champoeg Lodge 27. He and his wife enjoyed traveling the world.

Survivors include his son, Brent, of Mill Valley, Calif., one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

No service is planned.

Winona Goldy Russell

Winona Goldy Russell, 80, died July 29, 2013.

RussellShe was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Canby to Benoni and Goldy Arms.

She graduated from Canby High School in 1951 and married Wayne W. Russell Nov. 6, 1954, in Canby.

They raised their family on their Aurora farm. She enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include her husband; daughter, Diane Staehely; sons, Loy and Ken; sisters, Mildred Affolter and Edith Conley; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A service was held Aug. 6 with burial at Zion Memorial Cemetery in Canby.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bristol Hospice of Oregon or Countryside Living in Canby.

Viola May Christensen

Viola May Christensen, 61, died July 26, 2013, in Portland.


She was born May 18, 1952, in Portland to Harold and Fern Rife. She graduated from David Douglas High School in 1970.

On Sept. 17, 1977, she married John Christensen.

She was a guidance councilor for veterans and disabled students at Clackamas Community College, retiring in 2005. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, daughters, Angela Baker, of Canby, and Amanda Christensen, of Salem, and three grandchildren.

A service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
