A sale is pending on prime Beaverton property

Most of us have heard of The Round at Beaverton Central: the mixed-use area of fine restaurants, urban condos and Class-A office space that you bought back in 2006.

Part of that development, also known as the former Westgate Theater site, is in the planning and proposal stage of being sold. I just wanted to be sure you guys know that.

The Beaverton Community Vision — 118 action items for a better Beaverton, as told by the input of 6,000 Beavertonians — includes specific descriptions of what you want The Round to be.

It matters to you. But there hasn’t been much — if any — talk about the pending sale.

So let’s get some going, Beaverton residents and businesses!

The next time the potential sale will be discussed at City Council is Tuesday, April 8, at 6:30 p.m. in City Hall, so ask and learn as much as you can until then. To find opportunities to hear and be heard in the next two weeks, visit beavertonoregon.gov, click the City of Beaverton Calendar (main page, top left), choose a meeting, show up and ask questions.

A willing buyer for Westgate might be exactly what Beavertonians want — let’s face it, that area’s been a bit of a fixer-upper for quite some time. Or, the quick sale could hurt the chance for Westgate to become the dream home you described in the Community Vision: a vibrant, 18-hour-a-day place of restaurants, retail and housing.

The only way to know is to ask, right?
