Beaverton seeks Celebration Parade participants

Entries for free event must be received by Friday, Aug. 15

The city of Beaverton invites local businesses, groups and nonprofits to submit entries to participate in the 57th annual Beaverton Celebration Parade on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. There is no cost to participate.

Because of the popularity of the parade, entries will be limited and applications must be received by Friday, Aug. 15.

This year’s parade is held along with the Beaverton Celebration 5K Fun Run/Walk, beginning at 8 a.m., and the Pooch Parade, which kicks-off the Beaverton Celebration Parade at 10 a.m.

The Celebration Parade began in 1957 and has grown into a community tradition. Area high school marching bands, colorful floats and civic and cultural organizations will be cheered on by spectators as they wind their way through the city streets.

“The Beaverton Celebration Parade is a fun way for organizations to show their community spirit and be part of one of the city’s signature events,” said Mayor Denny Doyle. “Each year, I’m amazed at the creativity and hard-work that have been put into the entries. I look forward to seeing what’s in store for this year’s event.”

For more information or to apply, visit BeavertonOregon.gov/Parade. Applications must include a signed waiver and release form as well as an adult/child photo release form.
