Officer Jeremy Shaw on administrative leave after incident involving Herbert Rabago

A Beaverton man was hospitalized last week after he was shot by a Beaverton police officer during an altercation in the 15000 block of S.W. Bridle Hills Drive off of Southwest Hart Road.

Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering call at 1:40 p.m. on Feb. 11. by: WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Herbert Rabago, 28, was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries Tuesday after a Beaverton police officer-involved shooting in a domestic disturbance.

Officers were confronted by an adult male identified as Herbert Rabago, 28, at the front door of the residence. Rabago was reportedly armed with a large knife and refused officer’s commands to drop the knife, said Officer Mike Rowe, Beaverton Police Department spokesman.

The suspect then charged at the officer, who Rowe identified as Officer Jeremy Shaw. To protect his life and the lives of others, Shaw fired his gun at Rabago, and a bullet struck the suspect.

Shaw, a 10-year veteran of the Beaverton Police Department, is currently on paid administrative leave, a standard procedure when an officer is forced to use deadly physical force, Rowe said.

Rabago was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threating injuries. He was later released and lodged in the Washington County Jail on a felony warrant for a parole violation.
