Bonamici reschedules Beaverton town hall meeting

U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici’s schedule of town hall meetings with Washington County constituents has been shaken up a bit.

On Wednesday, the congresswoman’s office announced she had been called back to Washington, D.C., for a series of emergency votes on a government funding package needed to keep the federal government going and had to postpone several public forums planned in the area.

“I regret any inconvenience, but it is important for me to be in Washington for the discussions, negotiations and votes to prevent a government shutdown,” Bonamici said.

A town hall planned for Sunday in Beaverton has been moved to Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event will be held at the Nature Park Interpretive Center, 15655 S.W. Millikan Way in Beaverton.

Bonamici said she values the meetings because she wants to hear directly from residents of the 1st Congressional District about the issues they are most concerned about.

“I’m holding these meetings to discuss issues, answer questions and gather ideas,” Bonamici said. “Hearing directly from my constituents will help me better represent the needs of this diverse district.”
